Way Back Wednesday

(Okay, maybe not WAY back... but far enough)

We have a guest photographer today.  Paula sent me pictures from when our "Macomb 13" kittens joined the rescue.  ("Macomb 13" being the collective name we gave to the family of 13 kittens that we pulled from the rescue along with their Mama.  Our Adams kittens came from this bunch.)  Let's climb back into the Way Back Machine and check out our little pumpkins.

You'd better believe I nearly went cross-eyed squinting and trying to figure out who was who ;-)
Such a squirming mess of adorableness.  Check out Shelby... she had something to say even then.
Kitten craziness everywhere.
No wonder their mama looked tired.  This is Catalina, a very patient mother of 13 kittens.
Yes... I know it's my Cruzie by his stockings.  The handsome devil at the bottom is either Monte Carlo or IROC (I suppose it might be Hudson too... I just know it's not Bentley)
Baby brother smackdown.
Poor little Monte getting picked on by his sisters.  Shelby being pushy... Who would have guessed?

Fast Forward to Today... (Okay, yesterday)

Meet Sweetpea... another one of our little calicos who are available for adoption.
And Sweetpea's sister Honeysuckle (on the left).
These girls are the current foster sisters of...
A very uncooperative Malibu Adams...
Who wasn't in favor to looking at the camera...
Or holding still.

Malibu will be at Saturday adoption hours.  She got the "all clear" at the vet on Tuesday.

I will be there too, so plenty of pictures and hugs will be had.

Baby Jeffersons will also be making their adoption hours debut on Saturday.

I hear that I have families to choose from... (sigh, it's getting to be that time)

If you'll excuse me, I have babies to go hug.

    1. Mama is still in foster care and enjoying a spare moment to herself with the kittens being old enough for adoption. She's in great hands and will be looking for a home of her very own shortly.

  2. Okay, question to ask. Did she really give birth to 13 babies? She looks so little too. What happened to her?

    1. As far as we know, they are all hers. Our rescue took her out of the Macomb shelter with 13 babies. They are the same age and have enough physical similarities among the bunch (coloring, patterns, etc) that it is within the realm of possibilities for them all to be hers. Not saying no one has wondered from time to time if the shelter matched her with another litter too, but she took them all on and did a fabulous job raising this big brood.

Mama Catalina is still in foster care and getting ready for her turn on the adoption circuit herself. She is in incredible hands and being spoiled rotten at the moment.

  3. Double, triple and quadruple AWWW! (I don't know the right word for thirteen). They were so tiny back then and Mally is so big now. I hope for good homes for all of them.

    1. I think once you get to thirteen, it's just one seriously long AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!! (with lots of exclamation points!)

We've got almost one-half of the brood adopted into good homes already. Looking forward to more this weekend (and hugging Mally... that's number one on the list)

    2. Had to geek out a moment and look it up-its a Tridecuple. Tri=meaning three; dec=meaning ten; uple=meaning group
But I like your answer better :)

    3. I feel pretty certain that I will *never* remember that (or be able to pronounce it).

  4. Gosh, Catalina's story needs to be posted with her. Who wouldn't want to give that sweet girl a loving home once they knew what she went through and how hard she tried to be a good mommy!!

I think I remember that one of Robyn's mama cats was adopted by a family just because they wanted to spoil her since she had become a mama at such a young age...

    1. I have trouble with three. Don't know how Mama Catalina managed to do it without falling into drinking, drugs, and child abuse (kidding). Her babies were, without a doubt, some of the most exceptionally friendly, trusting, and beautiful souls that have put their paw prints on our hearts in a while. She absolutely deserves a special place to spend forever.

    1. I suppose this sort of thing will prepare me for my human children leaving for college. I'm not ready!!!! ((But then again, the human children might pick up a phone and let me know how they're doing. My babies don't have thumbs!!!!!))
