What's Up, Woodward?

"What's up, Woodward?"
 "Oh, nothing much..."
"Just sitting here looking handsome."

Woodward is the big fluffy teddy bear of the foster room.  He's quiet and gentle and sweet.  He wears four white mittens on his gigantic paws, just like each of his four brothers.  I wouldn't call him a brown tabby, he's more of a golden brown in color.  Quite possibly the handsomest man-cat in the room, there's no wonder why we're meeting up with a potential family this week.

"Handsomest?  But what about Lincoln?  And when will it be Lincoln's day on the blog?  There's no day of the week that starts with 'L'."
"You just hold your horses and wait your turn.  Today is Wednesday, which starts with W, which means WOODWARD."

Very soon, Lincoln.  Very soon we will have a special day dedicated to the handsomest tabby and white dude in the room.  (And yes, that's you!)

Sweet baby Willie Rae, just innocently hanging out in the sunbeam.
Not doing anything at all...
"Tag!"
"Hey!  Why are you attacking me?  Willie Rae is just a sweet little innocent bay-beeeeeeeee!"
"Sucker."
"Willie Rae MESS YOU UP!!!!!"

Both Abby and Willie Rae are adjusting to being singletons and are finding comfort in each other.  Abby is becoming more independent, able to spend more time on her own but still finding time to demand hugs and snuggles.  Willie Rae has become much more interested in people.  She isn't nearly as timid as she once was and doesn't flinch around people anymore.  She is definitely a lap kitten (As in... If I'm making a lap, she's in it.)  She sleeps with me at night and needs to know where I am at all times.  Abby has filled in as a surrogate mama at times, letting her snuggle up when I can't.  Now if only Abby would teach her how to purr....

(I know she can purr.  I've heard it a time or two.  Willie Rae just isn't a regular purr-er.  Feels strange...)

Our rescue has a new blog (which may have a familiar writing style to you).  We will be featuring a different kitty every week along with sharing information about current events.  Our very first Pet of the Week is our very own Henry

If you have friends, family members, or acquaintances in Michigan, please consider sharing our boy.  It's breaking my heart to see him waiting so long for his forever home.

  1. Lincoln, you could ask your foster mama to have a French Monday, it's called "lundi" over here!

Woodward is a really really handsome cat. He seems very sweet.

    1. Love it! We could be all sophisticated and bi-lingual and everything! Now I just need to learn more French ;-)

I'll work on getting him showcased by Monday.

  2. Hugs to you and Henry! I do so hope his family finds him soon :)
Oh and Fantastic Friday seems like the perfect time to showcase Lincoln.

    1. Henry's family has been exceptionally slow in showing up, but we'll forgive them if they get here soon.

Lincoln will get his day. Lately it depends on who is giving me the best photo ops. My camera is dying and has a malfunctioning flash, so I'm restricted to sunlight hours (which are fewer and fewer lately). Good news is that my new camera is coming soon. Perhaps over the weekend!

  3. I understand about Willie Rae and the purring... Sabrina isn't much of a purrer, and she's been that way since she was born. The only time I hear her purr is food-time! But can I scratch or pet her and get her to purr? Nope... She's the only one of my cats that I can't make purr and it bugs me too!

    1. Not much purring (although I did catch her at it earlier today) but my goodness is she ever a snuggler. If I'm sitting, she's touching me. If I'm walking in the house, she's following me demanding that I sit down.

She might be hard to part with...

  4. How about a Loveable Lincoln Weekend? MOL
Willie Rae, what a little tease!
    Woodward is a handsome boy!

    1. Oh, he would LOVE to have the whole weekend! Or maybe not... he tends to be the kitten that lets the others be the "star" of the show. We'll have to make sure he takes center stage soon.

  5. Psst - any chance of working on that other website a bit more? I've forwarded it to friends and they all say "Too dark! Can't read it" or various comments like that. All browsers. Any chance of making the text white, or changing the dark over-shadowing background?

    1. Thank you for your feedback. I was worried about the colors but it was late and I wanted to get it posted. I've changed the text to white and it is much more readable now.

Thank you also for sharing our Henry. If you wouldn't mind pointing your friends in his direction again, I would really appreciate it! :-)

  7. Quick question Kelly-did you change your font to differentiate from the shelter blog? I kinda liked the old way.

    1. I'm just playing around this evening. It will all probably change again by morning. I agree the font isn't the best, but I'm liking the colors.

  8. It's a good thing I don't live closer to you -- I just can't stand that Henry hasn't found his forever family yet. Of course, my HOA says I already have the max number of cats I need (only two!). And Willie Rae's purr (or lack thereof) -- my Allie doesn't purr much either. She definitely seems happy so it seems odd. I think al of my previous kitties have been big-time purrers, so I'm constantly encouraging Aliie to purr!

    1. I keep fighting myself to run back to the store for Henry. Simba would be less than thrilled with another male cat, but I can't STAND to let my boy linger there!

And somehow... little miss found her purr today. She's been going for about an hour now :)
