Just four days ago, the kittens would curiously peek out of the closet whenever I entered the room but they weren't all that thrilled with being handled and socialized. Now? They're all over me.
Sitting on the bathroom floor with long pants on (See? I've learned a lesson or two while fostering!), my legs become the most awesome playground climber imaginable. The scrambling kittens love to climb under, over, and through my legs.
They stalk each other from above (and below and behind). It is nowhere near unusual to have all five kittens somewhere on my legs...
Or on my feet... Shoelaces? Hmmm... where have I seen that before? Florence is particularly enamored with shoes.
While Mother Jefferson is almost always in the middle of the action... keeping an eye on her suddenly mobile brood, demanding affection, blocking escape routes from the bathroom, or perhaps even contemplating using those routes herself ;-)
But far and away my favorite pictures of the day are these two:
Clay decided against taking the long way around my leg and just climbed over instead.

Your Monday Memorable Moment
While sitting on the floor with a pack of kittens climbing all over me, I received a text message on the phone in my pants pocket. My alert tone is a trumpet fanfare as it's the only way to get my attention. Five kittens fell off my legs and scampered to the safety of their closet.

Adams Update
I heard from the Adams kittens' new foster mom on Monday afternoon. So far, so good. None of the remaining four are showing any symptoms of illness. They're up to all of their old tricks... tossing litter at each other while wrestling in the box, throwing their food off the plate so they can nap on it. They are their messy, endearing selves. 4 more days of observation before they can head to Petco.
Kelly can I come and sit in your foster room and have kittens climb all over me? I can't think of anything else that would be so much fun!
ReplyDeleteGlad the other kittens are getting better too - They should soon charm their new human servants!
You might want to wait until I move them out of the bathroom, but after that... sure!
Deletepurrs for the adamses....
ReplyDeleteI love it when the little ones get adventurous. I was sitting at one point with the orange boys and the garage door under my condo went up. You would have thought the building was on fire they way they ran. Part of me feels bad....and part of me laughs like crazy. :)
No reason to feel bad... it's funny! ((And they are noises that the little ones need to get used to anyway, so I say anything goes))
DeleteLittle ones are so cute but they do grow quickly don't they. Good to hear about the Adams' clan. Mother Jefferson reminds me so much of Robyn's Brandywine. Oh and how is Charlie? I think I need a new picture or two when he's up for it.
ReplyDeleteCharlie is doing quite well, although he's a bit miffed that various illnesses have kept him away from the kittens. I think he knows that Henry is back and can't believe I won't let him see his little buddy. Pictures coming up soon!
DeleteAnd yes, Mama is very much like Brandywine, isn't she? Personality seems the same too.
Your title reminds me of a cute magnet with a kitten on it that I saw in a gift shop the other day: "It's all fun and games until someone ends up wearing a cone!"
ReplyDeleteAnd as long as we don't end up with cones, everything is good! ;-)
DeleteMy husband sneezed the other day and my fosters ran so fast that I couldn't help but laugh.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little surprised you wear shoes in with kittens that small. I'm always so afraid of stepping on toes or tails that I don't. I always tell my husband to take his shoes off too. One time he didn't he stepped on someone scampering about (fortunately it wasn't serious) and he hasn't done it since.
Honestly, until yesterday they just weren't fast enough or elusive enough in that small room for me to even come close with a shoe (it was also warm enough that I was always in flip flops that I could kick off at the door). But you're right. I decided last night that there were no more shoes in the foster room ((and no more cell phones either)).
DeleteI can totally see those kittens falling off your legs and running at the cell phone ring! Awesome climbers!
ReplyDeleteWatching them develop has been amazing. One minute they were helpless and on the floor and the next they're climbing all over my legs.
