Big Cat Thursday

While I spent a good deal of time loving on kittens Wednesday, most of my time was devoted to cats of a much larger size.

I whiled away a glorious fall afternoon (70 degrees in Michigan!!!!!!) on the sidelines watching Shelby Wildcat football.  #21 in white would be an especially close relation of mine.  You might have seen him referred to around here as Child #2.  This would be right before he made an incredible defensive play that I did not get on film.

My evening was spent cheering on the hometown Detroit Tigers in game 4 of the American League Championship Series.  At least I think I did, considering we are in a rain delay as I write this... and it is not currently raining.  This picture is from game 4 of last year's ALCS, when I was lucky enough to get a seat in the nosebleeds.

Edit:  Major League Baseball apparently delays games for rain when it is not actually raining.  Game 4 is scheduled for Thursday afternoon... when there is a 90% chance of rain in the forecast.

In between the game and the game, we had pizza for dinner.  I feel rather certain that I've mentioned Norman's penchant for Crazy Bread before today.  Well, he was up to his old tricks (above) when my younger daughter mentioned, "This would be really good on video." Wouldn't you know it?  My camera can easily switch from still to movie, so...

(Feel free to leave the sound off.... all you will hear is the pregame prattle on TBS)

For whatever reason, Norman is either incapable or unwilling to move forward while his head is encapsulated within a Crazy Bread bag.  He also avoids help, so we just sit back and giggle at him. Don't feel too sorry for him.  He did this twice more within the next hour.  I figure if he wanted to learn a lesson, he would have done so by now.

"All of this ridiculousness could be avoided if you would just allocate a serving for Norman and put it on a plate like you do for the rest of the family."

We will return to Kittenpalooza tomorrow.

    1. When you combine silliness with fierce determination, you get Norman.

  2. LOL I just love Norm. You didn't mention that he loves crazy bread but from what you have mentioned he loves all kinds of food so I'm not surprised... just very entertained. Cats are smart so I'm guessing that the benefit of the smell of the bread outweighs the awkward head gear in his mind :)

Has Mr Norman been gaining weight? In the last picture he looks like he has filled out a little.

    1. I believe he is starting to bulk up a bit. Lord knows he will eat anything he can get close to, so weight gain should follow.

  3. So are you going to the rescheduled game today? I was surprised they called it, too, but I guess it's better than getting three innings in and then calling it and wasting a Scherzer start. Go Tigers!

    And I love Norm!

    1. I wish we were going today! We weren't there last night either. The picture is from last year's series against Texas (at least I was at the one game they won last year!)

I'm all for a saved Scherzer start, but from what I hear (from people who live closer) it didn't even start drizzling until after 10:30. The game could have been over by then, or close to it. Anyway, between football practice and a soccer game I'll be listening on the radio this afternoon. Go Tigers!!! :-)

  4. Robyn has Loony Jake and you've got Crazy Norman. I think it's cute how it looks like Charlie (aka big brother) wants to help but doesn't quite know how.

    1. And I kept getting irritated with him because he was getting in the way of the video ;-)

    1. That boy is crazy for Crazy Bread. He spends the next couple hours picking Parmesan cheese out of his fur... makes him very happy.
