The Deluxe Apartment Leaves A Bit To Be Desired

Mother Jefferson and the babies moved out of the upstairs bathroom and into the deluxe apartment on the first floor (aka the front foster room).  As I write this on Wednesday night, they're not too thrilled about the changes.

Mama isn't too sure about the French doors.  She and Simba spent a great deal of time staring each other down through the glass.

Clay and Willie Rae discuss how much bigger the accommodations are down here.  And while the accommodations are much larger, look at how much smaller the kittens are!

Willie Rae wandered the room with all of her fur standing at attention... not quite a floof suit, but not her regular duds either.

Florence decided that hanging on to the fuzzy pajama pants seemed like the safest course of action.  (Please disregard the socks... they will be garbage very soon)

Her brothers and sisters agreed that the pajama pants were not only safe, but comfy too.  It would be at this point that I detected purring for the first time from one of them (That would be Lionel).

I purchased a pop-up dog kennel for the corner of their room and filled it with their favorite blankets, hoping they would take it as a substitute for their linen closet.  They did go in for a while, but unless Mama was willing to stay and feed them... they didn't stay for very long.

"Oh lovely... You found me."

I left them alone to adjust for the remainder of the evening.  Hopefully they'll relax and provide better photo opportunities tomorrow.

  1. Are you kidding!? Those are AWESOME pictures! Look how sweet they look! I love watching them learn their spaces when they're still this new. I hope mama gets comfortable soon though - It is stressful I'm sure.

(and you know that "Moving on down" is going to be in my head all day right? Thanks ever so for the earwig...)

    1. You're welcome. It's been in my head for days... had to get it out there.

And there are new and better pictures coming tomorrow, so make sure you come back for them :-)

    1. The cute thing is that she sometimes acts so put upon when they want to nurse. Yet when they were climbing all over me, she showed up, laid down next to me, and started calling them down to her.... and seemed quite irritated that only a couple kittens showed up. Mama wants it every which way, it seems.

  3. I agree with Sherry. Those were adorable pictures. Poor Momma, I love the caption you've given her. I'm sure they will be toddling around like nothing ever happened real soon.

Update on Oreo: She seemed a bit better last night after sleeping most of the day. She is such a cuddler I haven't gotten a good look at her walking today but I think she will be just fine. Thanks for the good thoughts.

    1. Glad to hear Oreo is doing better. Those kittens can sure put us through the wringer, can't they?

Mama is a bit unsure of herself with those glass doors. I might be bringing the curtains back out for privacy... and give up on the idea of having decent curtains ;-) She does like having vertical space, though. She can get higher and the babies can't yet.

  4. That floofy suit is adorable! It might take a little while, but they will come to love the space! And the romping room!

    1. They're a bit small to take full advantage of the running room... but they're becoming more at ease with staggering around the joint ;-)

    1. I know!!! My husband actually looked at them for the first time in weeks (he's just not that interested and they've been upstairs in the bathroom) and he said "Shouldn't they be bigger by now?" 4-weeks-old... still younger than when the Adams clan moved in.

((And I love having that door for size comparison purposes!))
