Mother's Day in Teeny Tiny Tabby Town

Mama Clarice spent Sunday with her whiskers in the window.
She was waiting, watching, and hoping for her kittens to arrive for a Mother's Day visit.

"NONE of them came home? Did any of them call???"

"Harrumph. I thought I raised those kittens better than that."

Sigh....

Mama met up with Mr. Simba on Sunday, though.
The results of that meeting are on her poor nose.

We're still waiting for Mama Clarice's forever family to find her. While we wait, we are attempting to integrate her into the regular population around here. We probably waited a bit too long after the kittens left. Between the ringworm risk and Norman's protracted illness, I felt it was necessary to keep her in a protective bubble for her own safety. Clarice has gotten too used to life on her own, though. She's also a bit intimidated by big bad Simba. When he comes into her room, she corners herself and hisses at him. You can see in the photo above what Simba thinks about that attitude.

I still feel that she would do very well in a family with other animals. She will do just fine here too. We're just taking baby steps at the moment.

Ruby Roo got a new scratcher and a new collar over the weekend. She's not sure what to make of either one of them. (Shhhhhh... No one tell her that it's a puppy collar. It was the only one in her size that sparkled... which was a requirement imposed by daughter #2)

I fully meant to give you a weekend edition of the blog, but sometimes life intervenes. This time in the form of an unexpected visit home by my husband for Mother's Day weekend. Spring sports and school events always runs my schedule off the rails. Combined with bathroom renovations (which are finally completely over as of Saturday), spring cleaning, starting a new business and company expected shortly, my nerves were more than a bit frazzled. It was nice to have a couple extra helping hands around, even if it changed the agenda and priorities slightly. My house is getting back in shape and my garden is ready to plant. Now if it would only stop snowing (Seriously... it sleeted and hailed on Sunday. Come on!)

  1. Yay for Ruby's new scratcher and collar and yay for hubby coming home. Glad you enjoyed your weekend :)
Oreo took it easy over the weekend and sighed at the prospects of NOT being able to have any children to call her mama. I reminded her that some days are better than others in that department. Sunday was good for us, but who knows what today or the rest of the week will bring.

  3. Poor Mama Clarice's nose boo boo!

And what type of scratcher is that? I'm always looking for something that Jinx will think is better to scratch than my parsons chairs... :(

    1. I'll try get a photo into a post later this week of the scratcher. It's a clearance special from Target... it's a post scratcher, built of cardboard squares strung on a pole. Regular price $19.99, on sale for $6.98. She hasn't used it yet. I don't think she knows how. Either that or she's afraid of it. I wouldn't put either past her.

  5. LOL. I have the worst time finding collars as well. Even more so because with seven of them if they are $10+ a piece I go into the poor house! :)

    1. Check Target if you want to stock up now. I grabbed this one off clearance for $2.98! All of the Targets near me are morphing into Super Targets. They're having massive clearance specials to make room for the construction and groceries.

  6. Oh, Clarice, don't be scared of Simba! When your forever family finds you, they might have a big orange boy, too!

    Also - cool new scratcher!
