Who'll Be Home for Christmas?

DATELINE: Friday, December 21
Teeny Tiny Tabby Town... Foster Population: 6

We knew on Friday morning that our number was going to be dwindling by one...

"COMET IS SO EXCITED!!!!
WHERE'S MY MAMA???"

"Seriously, Lady... Is it time for Comet to go yet?"

"Not yet? Comet has to wait all the way until dinner time?"

"Okay... Comet will just be here with the big boy."

Before he left, Comet indulged me with a photo session.

He did haughty.

He did sweet.

He did gorgeous... very well, I might add.

Have a wonderful life, sweetheart.
By the way... His mama named him Cosmo.  Is that not completely perfect?

DATELINE: Saturday, December 22
Teeny Tiny Tabby Town... Foster Population: 5

We were running late to adoption hours on Saturday afternoon.  When I arrived (15 minutes late), someone already had a family waiting for her...

Vixen's new mama found her on Petfinder and was quite excited to meet her.

Good thing she showed up when she did because 2 other families came later in the afternoon looking to take our Vixen home.

Our popular little girl waved goodbye within 30 minutes of her arrival at her very first adoption hours.
Have a happy life, my sweet little lap kitten.

And that's where things came to a screeching halt...

"AH-CHOOOOOO!"

"Cruzie doesn't feel too good, Lady."

"Yeah, Lincoln either.
Uh oh... AH... AH... AH....
CHOOOOOOOO!!"

We're guessing our two boys picked up a little something at the clinic when they went in for neutering the other day.  Mild-mannered Lincoln was a crabby, rude mess within an hour of arriving at adoption hours.  He hissed.  He growled.  He didn't want attention or affection.  And then he sneezed.  And sneezed some more.  And then Cruz sneezed.  And sneezed some more.  We called the vet for meds and packed our boys up and headed for home.

I'm happy to say that after one full day on Clavamox both boys are feeling MUCH better.  They're bouncing around like loons, snuggling, purring, and trying to climb the Christmas tree.  They're also very excited for Christmas.  I've hung some extra stockings because the boys will be here with us for another week.

The best part is that (thankfully) their brother Peeps hasn't made a single peep in the sneeze department.  Because that boy has somewhere to be today...

DATELINE: Monday, December 24
TEENY TINY TABBY TOWN... Foster Population: 4

Peeps spent the weekend snuggled up with his brothers,
but by the end of the day he'll be snuggled up with his new mother.

"Peeps loves his Lincoln pillow!"

"Wait... Peeps is leaving??!??!??!"

"HAhaHAhaHAhaHA!! The window perch will be Lincoln's.... ALL Lincoln's!!"

"Heeheeheeheehee!"

"What do you MEAN that Lincoln has to share it with Cruzie?
And really, Lady... When was the last time you cleaned this window?"

By the end of the morning, we'll be packing the Peepster's little bags and getting ready to meet his new family.  He will be spending Christmas Eve in his new home (and meeting his new little girl on Christmas morning!)

Goodbye, my handsome photo-bomber.
We will miss you SO much.
Have a happy, happy life.

The forecast...

DATELINE: Tuesday, December 25
TEENY TINY TABBY TOWN... Projected Foster Population: 3

Lincoln, Cruz, and Abby will be here for Christmas.  The boys will be here until next weekend, when they will return to adoption hours after finishing their course of meds.  Abby will be scheduled for her eyelid surgery right after New Year's.  We'll still have plenty to blog about over the next week.  Stay tuned.

The gossip...

The human population grew by one over the weekend when the husband came home for the holidays.
Someone is quite attached to him.

"He LIKES it when Abby snuggles him... Really, he does!"

Yep... Our Abby is an outrageous flirt when it comes to my husband.

Also, it seems, with Norman...
"He LIKES it when Abby snuggles him... Really, he does!"

I will be revealing a teeny tiny secret in tomorrow's blog post.
Check back and find out what it is.

Until then...

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL,
AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!!

EDIT: I completely forgot to mention... We had a TON of adoptions this weekend of our Petco kittens.  Several kitties that you've met previously went home, including Squeeks and Sidney. :) Only ONE kitten was left at the end of the weekend (and we were already discussing bringing her back to foster because she is extra-shy and needs more attention). Didn't matter anyway... our rescue brings them ALL home for Christmas. No one spends the holiday at the store.

Pretty Girl Vixen

Our teeny tiny girl Vixen is a strikingly beautiful kitten...
which is sometimes difficult to photograph.

We received dozens of phone calls for her brother Comet based on this one single photo on Petfinder.

Vixen's intial photo session left a much to be desired in the results, so this weekend I dedicated some time to working with our pretty little model.

Someone else decided that he would like to be part of the session too.

And after a moment... not just a part of the session, Peeps wanted to be the star.

"Hi, Lady!"

What you should understand is that Peeps is the love monster of the front foster room
They all love to be loved, but Peeps is the leader of the pack.

"PEEPS LOVES YOUUUUUU!"

"The title of the article clearly reads 'Pretty Girl Vixen'.  Peeps is neither a girl nor Vixen.  Harrumph."

 "This is much better."

I understand that Vixen is the last of the baby-babies available before the holiday.
Not only is she pint-sized, but she's sweet as candy and a lap cat to boot.
If you know someone who is looking for a kitten for Christmas, send them my way.
I might even be able to arrange a "layaway" program ;-)

Teeny Tiny Health Update

They're not teeny or tiny anymore, so Cruz and Lincoln are heading off to get "tutored" this morning.  Shhh..... they think it's a special field trip and I don't want to burst their bubble.

Norm is still quiet, but eating and using the litter box.  We're making progress.

Floofy Friday

Our fabulously floofy little boy had a very special visitor last night.

"Is my new mama here yet?"

"Sigh.... We've been waiting ALL DAY!"

"Is that the door?  Is she here?"

"Do my hairs look okay?"

OF COURSE, his hairs looked absolutely perfect.  And OF COURSE, he completely swept his new mama off her feet.  We have a love connection :)

Comet will be a fabulously fluffy Christmas gift for two little girls (and their mama too).  We're keeping him safe here until next Friday evening.  Good thing too...

Peeps needs a playmate while he's waiting for Christmas Eve!

**********************************************************

We're headed back to adoption hours tomorrow with...

Lincoln,

Vixen, and

Cruz!

He looks so much more grown up, doesn't he?

Teeny Tiny Baby Cruzie during his first stint in Teeny Tiny Tabby Town

Just look at our big boy now!

He kind of reminds me of someone...

You could definitely do worse than resemble Handsome Henry.

**********************************************************

And now for the news portion of our program...

Mother Jefferson is coming back to us.  Apparently our girl has decided she wants to be an only cat (and made her wishes known by terrorizing her kitty companion at her new house).  She will be back at Petco for Saturday adoption hours and ready for just the right family to come claim her.

And speaking of Mama... the apartment building in St. Clair County where she was abandoned and gave birth to her babies burned down this week.  One woman was killed and another is in the ICU.  Our rescue has taken many stray and feral cats from this apartment building in the past and we currently have a group of feral boys that were living in the building when it burned.  These boys are completely feral, so we are looking for a farm with a nice barn for them to call home.  Please spread the word to anyone you think might be interested in the boys (one, two, all of them!)

The boys are vaccinated and neutered.  They have all tested negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia.  For more information, you (or your friends, family, neighbors, and associates) can e-mail Paula at futures4felines@yahoo.com

Thank you for spreading the word.  Have a great weekend everyone!!

Shhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! It's a Secret!!!

It's that time of year, when planners plan and schemers scheme and secrets abound. We already know of one very big Christmas secret.

Someone is going to be breaking out of this joint
As a very special Christmas present for a very special girl.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! It's a secret!!!

Someone else has an appointment this evening
To see if he will fit the bill as a very special Christmas present for TWO very special girls.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! It's a secret!!!

Someone else has been adopted too...
Shhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! It's a secret!!!

Willie Rae has the perfect forever family... a mom, a dad, three kids, a chocolate lab, two senior cats, and all the foster kitten playmates she can possibly handle. But shhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! It's a secret!!! Seriously, the dad in this family suspects it will happen but doesn't know about it yet. The mom is looking for just the right way to break the news.

Sometimes the family picks the kitten and sometimes the kitten picks the family. Willie Rae's family has loved her for her whole entire life but didn't really "know" how much they needed her until she so vehemently insisted how much she needed them. She has taken some of the pain out of the loss of their late great torbie cat, picking up the family lap cat duties and purring throughout the night on her new mom's legs. Even the senior boy cats have decided that Willie Rae is a-okay.

They're still debating a forever name. Willie Rae just doesn't feel like a forever kind of name. The double name will stay... as in Something Rae. Fiona Rae, Lily Rae, Phoebe Rae, Lucy Rae... feel free to leave your suggestions in the comments. I'll be sure her new family sees them.
